Pca exhibition 2008 details

From Milapsinh Jadeja -

thanks for posting bhaskar and thankyou so much aamir.. u're always such a motivator for the group..
Well, here is what came to my mind instantly...

* The date is fixed as February 4th, 08.

* We would like to ensure maximum member participation this time.
irrespective of the location.

* A separate thread termed as "submissions for the exhibition" will be opened here where in the members would need to post "FIVE" of their best works that they themselves find it suitable ON ANY SUBJECT(BE IT LIFE, ARCHITECTURE, MACRO, NATURE, TRAVEL, ETC..)

* Another thread would be opened for the "selected photographs for the exhibition" where in the members can check if their pictures have been selected or not so that they can keep on posting new pictures in the submission thread. This thread would be opened on 15th January, 08.

* We would be accomodating a maximum of three pictures per member and that applies to all the members (including the admin-fadmins.. hehe..)..

* we plan to invite about 6 entries from reknowned photographers in different subjects with their thoughts on that particular picture and they would be invited in the exhibition to discuss the same in the benefit of our members in terms of vision.

* A sponshorship is being worked out with a corporate group to sponsor the whole show so that a minimum load is being placed on the photographer to exhibit his work. The sponsorship may be utilised for the catalogue, exhibition cards, framing, advt, and a best picture award in cash. ( all this is only under process, nothing finalised as yet)

* We are also discussing our terms with one of the best photography magazines to cover our event and join "thepca" as a co-orgainzer.

* The members will have to bear a minimum participation cost which may be the cost of the prints, which will be returned back to them in case of a sponsorship.

* In case the sponsorship doesnot work out then the members will have to share a equivalent cost for the exhibition which will be decided per print basis to include the print, framing, rent of the hall, posters, invitations, chaai paani and our gala dinner on the last day at the exhibition.

Group, we are very open and are in need of some good (inexpensive) suggestions which can help us organise one of the best exhibitions ever held in ahmedabad and india, as a photography group. We would like to set a benchmark this time and make it a quality show and not quantity.

Again, bhaskar has started a very important thread (just like last time) and i am sure this thread too will be a super dooper hit...

come on group.... we need to complete the submissions by 15th jan, 08 so as to finalise the selections by 26th jan, 08, which will leave only one week for printing and framing etc.

One last thing before someone asks... we are trying to choose between hutheesing visual art gallery and Ravishankar hall, law garden. Any other suggestions..... ?? any other halls..

Suggestions required for the following
1) sponsorship/s,
2) theme based exhibition or not,
3) place (apart from halls... some creative or innovative idea...say.. streets...somewhere)
4) some ideas to make the exhibition rocking.. i mean.. some music.. some slide shows.. or something of that sort ??)
5) the inauguration of the exhibition by a known face... ( amitabh bachchan... hehe..)
6) some message that we want to pass on as a group by this kind of a exhibition ???

How about a meeting/picnic/get together and completely discuss all these aspects and distribute the responsbilities... ???
i guess its very important so that we all are on one consensus as this is "our" group... we all need to work on it..

awaiting ur responses .. here.. sorry for this long a message.. but i had to write w/e came to my mind ..

goodluck
all the best..

The PCA Activities
Written by Administrator
Tuesday, 01 January 2008
Hello friends,

Let me wish you a happy new year first!

The PCA has seen a lot of participation this year, both in photographs and in discussions. Thank you for participating heartily in everything. We aim to hold some informal meetings every month - just to meet up, have tea (and the maska-bun, of course) and to discuss photography. If it helps one person in developing their vision and in taking better photographs, we're happy. After all, that is the purpose of The PCA. We have so much talent in our group, no names need be mentioned here :) as so many people click great photographs.

We have a forthcoming exhibition and a group outing very soon. On this note, I have a request. As Mahipal said, there is a LOT to do in a very short time. My request is that people start taking the initiative and do things starting now. Let me explain. It is just a few of us who meet up regularly and who're handling everything, and at times it becomes a big task, just to update posts.

Dr Prakash has suggested slideshows and video shows. I am all for it, however, I would like to ask someone to assist him with that. Individual portfolios and such can be showcased at the event. Since the exhibition will be on for half the day, we can have quite a few participants.

Regarding the exhibition, this time, we aim to make it something special, so more effort is needed. Gautambhai alone has helped with the frames and putting up the photographs for all our exhibition (with help from Ketan and his students of course), this time around, we do want some more helping hands. Please take the initiative for whatever it is you want to contribute with, confirm with any of the mods (Dewang, Milap, Paren, Mahipal and me) or senior  members, and start helping! :)

On that note, I would request those of you, who are able to devote some time to the group to volunteer for such activities. There is no money to be gained, but at least, you have the satisfaction of having participated in a group effort :) . We will hold a meeting soon to discuss the above subjects (and more as and when the topics crop up). Thanks everyone.

Have a very happy new year and a lot of great photographs in 2008!
